Step by Step Guide for Loading a Truck

Step 1 – Ensure that any loose goods are packed into boxes; the three most popular types of boxes used for moving are book boxes, huge standard boxes, and porta-robes. Consider having your items professionally packed to ensure they are not too heavy and are easily transportable.

Step 2 – Reserve an easily accessible parking space for your vehicle and coordinate with your neighbours or apartment manager to keep the distance from the premises reasonable.

Step 3 – Use a walk-up ramp rather than a tail lifter, which is slow and inefficient.

Step 4 – Before packing the truck, conduct a fast tour of the premises to determine the most efficient and effective method of loading all of the things onto the truck.

Step 5 – Begin with large wardrobes by wrapping a soft knot over the entire unit to prevent the door from opening while I'm carrying it.

Step 6 – Load the truck from the front on the right hand side facing the doors to the wall, then cover it entirely with a furniture pad.

Step 7 – Attempt to maintain an even height from right to left, thus the apparent next step would be a lounge. Wrap it in plastic before it leaves the house, then lay it beside and behind the back of the original wardrobe. Place the lounge on a blanket placed on the floor, followed by another around it to protect it further.

Step 8 – Each item should be tied separately, but if the contents are perfectly loaded, I may or may not tie objects together at all.

Step 9 – Place pillows or light objects on top of the wardrobe and lounge to fill the vacuum between the roof.

Step 10 – Next, on the left, arrange white goods such as a refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer. Finally, arrange light objects on top.

Step 11 – For the next two levels, going from front to back, begin putting your large standard boxes with smaller book boxes on top; this will allow you to fill the area equally from right to left and provide a level platform for loading dining chairs.

Step 12 – Each chair is wrapped and protected before being mated tightly with another. Arrange the first chair with its back and legs to the right, followed by the second one inside, and so on; this will fill the area level and close to the roof.

Step 13 – Continue loading in layers, with the largest and heaviest goods at the bottom and the smallest and lightest objects at the top, from right to left. For instance, a chest of drawers in the bottom, followed by port-a-robes, and finally by lighter goods at the top.

Step 14 – Last but not least, load any potted plants or other problematic things.
